And why we need them

I have gone through my own rough times. I have pretended like I didn’t care about things till I truly didn’t care about them. I didn’t want to care anymore. I wanted my feelings to go away so I could just move forward in life and not be held down by them. I hurt myself in the process. Losing my feelings made it so that people couldn’t hurt me which turned into people taking advantage of me because I could handle it anyway. I didn’t have the warning signs to step away when I should have.

We are supposed to feel. We are supposed to feel because that tells us when something is not right. And that’s how we keep ourselves safe. It is ok to trust your feelings. When you can sit down with them and figure out what your feelings are trying to tell you it can help you overcome adversity and empower you into a brand new creature.

Get to know your feelings. Get to know what triggers them and why those things trigger them. This is when the words, “and how does that make you feel?” come into use. Keep saying those words until you get to the root of the problem. Then work on fixing that problem.
