“I don’t remember deciding to become a writer. You decide to become a dentist or a postman. For me, writing is like being gay. You finally admit that this is who you are, you come out and hope that no one runs away.” — Mark Haddon
It takes a certain boldness to dedicate yourself to writing. It has a bad reputation when it comes to secure living. Plus, it’s usually frowned upon by those who claim to move around all day
I just really want to write books. Different length, weird ass books.
I like the slow build up and the unfolding. I enjoy getting to know my characters and seeing the ways they tick. But mostly, I write to understand myself and others which gives me a sense of fulfillment. I like that I can write to answer my own questions or even to initially ask my own questions.
Besides, there’s just too many moments in life left to gather dust that should have been handled by writers. I plan to capture as many as I can.
